We have to say “this is mine” with a great deal of humility. The Jewish people claimed the promised land as theirs. However, God reminded them: the LORD, your God, brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that he would give you, a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, with houses full of goods of all sorts that you did not garner. The promised land was taken from previous owners and they’ve been fighting about it ever since. There is a great deal in the news about protecting the US border — a border for lands forcibly taken from the previous inhabitants. Instead of insisting on “mine” can we think in terms of “ours?”
