Jesus declared that the people missed the prophetic significance of John the Baptist. “Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased.” And he understood that a similar spiritual blindness sealed his fate as well. “So also will the Son of Man suffer at their hands.” I wonder what prophetic message I am missing, what divine messenger I am rejecting? The answer undoubtedly lies in those areas which make me uncomfortable. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn and offer him the other. If someone asks for you coat, give him your shirt as well. Forgive seventy times seven times. How am I to apply in concrete ways these words of the Lord?
