Have you cured someone who was lame so that they could walk lately? Not easy to do, right? But according to Jesus curing the lame is easier than extending forgiveness! “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?” God does not expect us to work miracle cures but he does expect us to forgive. But it is hard to do! For one thing, we feel like there needs to be some equity before I extend forgiveness. I have been wounded and the perpetrator seems to get off scot-free once I extend forgiveness. I have suffered, shouldn’t he? Forgiveness is not meant to absolve the perpetrator but to free the victim from letting the wounds dominate one’s life.
