You can be sure that things were just as terrible in the time of Isaiah as they are nowadays. Now, as then, when things seem to be going to hell in a hand basket people get discouraged. They don’t see a way out. They can only imagine the worst. Thus, the Prophet delivered a message of hope. Thus says the Lord GOD: But a very little while… In a very little while things will get better. In a very little while peace will come. The prophetic message enabled the people to get through the rough times. Obviously “the very little while” of God does not produce the kind of dramatic transformation we might wish for but we are equipped to live each day with faith.
