The cure of the paralyzed man is very instructive about how Jesus operated. The scene is set around Jesus as healer. The power of the Lord was with him for healing. Presumably seeking a healing was why his friends brought paralyzed man to Jesus. It must have been somewhat of a surprise when instead of healing, Jesus offered forgiveness. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “As for you, your sins are forgiven.” Often what we need most is on the spiritual level. The second thing to notice is that Jesus responded to the faith of the friends, not that of the paralyzed man. “Their faith” moved him. This is a vivid illustration of the role we play in bringing people to Jesus.
