Typically when Jesus has performed a miracle he says something like “Your faith has healed you.” There is a difference in the healing of the paralyzed man. It is not the faith of the one needing healing but the faith of his friends who brought him to Jesus that motivated the miracle. St. Luke is very explicit: Jesus saw their faith, not his faith. I take that as a reminder that I need to keep bringing my family and friends to Jesus in prayer. The healing they need in their life is not dependent on whatever faith they might profess. Rather, my faith in raising them up to the throne of grace will be sufficient for the Lord to look with healing hands upon them
