One of the strange byproducts of the pandemic is a general feeling of being tired. Even though we aren’t moving around much we still feel overburdened. Hence, the invitation of Jesus to come to him when feeling overwhelmed couldn’t be more timely. Jesus proposes making a swap — our burdens which wear us down for his “yoke” which is “easy and light.” The yoke of Jesus is having as one’s desire and choice to always and only do God’s will. We usually think about what we want and then ask God to help us. The yoke of Jesus is to reverse the process and start by asking “God what do you want for me” — easy and light because what God wants is for the best.
