You can imagine how happy Jairus was when Jesus agreed to come to heal his daughter … and how frustrated he was when the woman with a hemorrhage stopped the Lord on his way. My guess is that he thought “you have been sick for twelve years. Can’t you wait one more day so that my daughter can get well.” His heart must have sunk when people from the synagogue official’s house arrived and said, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?” There is a happy ending to the story — Jairus’s daughter was cured. Two lessons: first, Jesus was truly present to the situation right in front of him. Second, our timing and God’s might not coincide. We must trust in God’s time!
