The man possessed by Legion wanted to follow Jesus after he had been cured. Jesus told him he had a different path: “Go home to your family and announce to them all that the Lord in his pity has done for you.” Then the man went off and began to proclaim in the Decapolis. That is a good reminder to all of us that the first place we need to bring the gospel is in our family and with our own people. No doubt there is in your family old hurts, long held grudges, some who feel neglected or overlooked, others who are full of self-doubt or low self-esteem. We begin our live as “missionary disciples” by bringing peace and reconciliation among our family members.
