My doctor is very kind. Each time I see him he offers several suggestions on things I should do to stay healthy. When I return and haven’t done these things the doctor does not yell at me, does not tell me to stay away until I have become healthy. No, he gently points out things I should work on until the next time. Jesus must have had a doctor like that since he used the image of a kindly doctor to describe his mission. “Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.” As followers of Jesus we are a mess but He promises to walk with us every step of the way in our journey toward spiritual health and life, life to the full.
