On a recent visit to a parishioner in a nursing home it struck me that there were many people who lived there. While I was able to visit one I had neither the time nor the energy to visit them all. My prayer that evening was that whoever was supposed to visit those other sick people would do so. All of which serves as a reminder on how to understand the saying of the Lord: “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.‘ None of us can reach all of the hurting people out there even though each one bears the image of Christ. We can only do what we can do with those woven into our circle of care. But since we are Church we can together make sure that the hungry are fed and the homeless our housed. Each one does their individual part and God pulls them together to create the tapestry of grace.
