My word that goes forth from my mouth shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it. When Jesus was resisting temptation he turned to the Scriptures as his way of understanding how God wanted him to act. The Word of God contains divine power; however, the word is not always clear! We need to interpret the word, understand what the word says to us. One admonition of Scripture is pretty clear: the need to forgive. Jesus appends to the Lord’s prayer an additional call to forgiveness: If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. This Lent make a list of the hurts and grudges that you still hold onto and pray through the list one at a time from the least to the most serious, seeking to find forgiveness in your heart. That is the way to peace.
