The queen of Sheba witnessed Solomon’s great wisdom. The Biblical story of the Queen of Sheba has echoes in many cultures. Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Coptic, Yoruba legends all tell her story. The kings of Ethiopia claimed descendence from her and Solomon’s child. In more modern times there have been songs, plays, paintings, movies about the Queen of Sheba. While much of the legendary material cannot be verified historically it plays an important role in creating a culture. (Think of George Washington chopping down a cherry tree.) However, factual history is even more important than any legend. Unless a people knows truly who the are and where they come from they will not be able to repent of any mistakes made and grow as God intends.
