Jesus’ relatives set out to seize him for they said, “He is out of his mind.” Jesus stepped out of the normal way his friends and relatives operated in his desire to follow the will of God. They thought he was in crazy town. It should be no surprise that those of us who follow Jesus do crazy things as well. It’s a little crazy to give some of your hard earned money away to support the Church and to care for the poor. It’s a little crazy to forgive someone who hurt you knowing that makes you vulnerable to be hurt again. It’s a little crazy to put time aside from your busy, busy schedule to spend in prayer or going to Mass. It’s a little crazy reach out to someone who is hurting when you are feeling good. It’s a little crazy to care enough about God’s creation that you get out of your car, cut down on using plastic, lower the thermostat. We might be out of our minds but we are firmly in God’s mind and that is enough.
