The God of our ancestors designated you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of his voice. After his conversion, what inspired St. Paul to bring the Gospel to the Gentiles? In his world, Jews and Gentiles had nothing to do with each other. After all, weren’t the Jews the chosen people! Paul’s experience was that God’s grace, God’s love was given to him without him deserving it in any way. In fact, as he reminds his readers often, he was completely undeserving because of his behavior. Because God freely bestowed saving life onto Paul, he envisioned that the same possibility was available to all. If him, why not everyone! In our lives we must recover the awareness that we don’t do, can’t do anything to deserve God but, nonetheless, God comes to us — and to everyone else as well.
