In 2 Samuel 7 King David, now that his kingdom was secure, decided to “build a house for the Lord.” Of course the house for the Lord would be right next to the palace and keep David in control. The prophet said to Daniel, not so fast. You think you’re going to build a house for the Lord? I got news for you — the Lord is going to build a house for you. Of course, Christians see the fulfillment of this prophecy in the coming of Jesus who was “of the house of David.” What a vivid reminder that we do not do for God, God does for us. All we do does not earn God’s love but is a response to God’s many blessings toward us.
