In Mark 5 there is a dramatic scene: Jesus performs two miracles, his power is manifest, there is the manifestation of faith and conflict with the crowds. Amidst all this drama one very human moment stands out when the little girl is revived: Jesus “said that she should be given something to eat.” There is a temptation to imagine that a divine encounter contains drama, is a mountaintop experience. But in reality the simple act of making sure that someone has something to eat can be the occasion to recognizing the presence and the action of God. Today let’s look for God in the ordinary, in the everyday events of life. It is in the providence of everyday life that God comes to us most frequently.
