Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen. To be a Christian is to be a person of faith. Most times we think that means assenting to an idea, a proposition, like believing that the world is not flat. “I believe in God. I believe in Jesus.” What would happen if we used as our model of religious faith the other great example of faith that we know — the faith that exists in marriage? Our confession of faith would not be about ideas but about a relationship. “I believe God loves me just as I am and forgives me. I believe that God loves me even in my human limitations and weakness because I share those with Jesus.”
