The lives of the saints are chock-a-block with miracle stories, some passing strange. Jesus in his parables asks us to open our eyes and see that a hundred million miracles are happening every day. “If a man were to scatter seed on the land … the seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how.” Just because we are accustomed to seeing a tiny acorn produce a mighty oak does not make it any less a miracle. Or look at the teeny-tiny fingernails of a new born and be in awe. The real miracle stories in the saints is how God took ordinary people with all the faults and foibles of anyone and used them to bring hope and compassion to those who were hurting.
