Jesus said to them, “What are you looking for?” That 2000 year old question is just as relevant today as it was back then. Witness the popularity of a U2 song from 1987: “And I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.” The reason contemporary people haven’t found what they are looking for can be found in response Jesus gave to those seekers: “Come, and you will see.” The only way to find what we are looking for is by leaving the familiar, the comfortable, the expected and going toward God. We can’t find what we are looking for by reading about it, or researching it, or thinking about it but only by living it. Come and live as Jesus calls us to live — in forgiveness, compassion, generosity, love — and what we are looking for will be right in front of us.
