The scene of Moses before the burning bush has a Cecil B. DeMille quality — dramatic, picturesque, evocative. “The place where you stand is holy ground.” Being on Holy Ground means you are in the right place, you can make contact with God. Seeking holy ground can become something of a spiritual quest — Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Holy Trinity in Alabama, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico? Or how about a beach at sunrise, a windswept mountaintop, a grove of redwoods? The poets tell us that the world is charged with the grandeur of God, that every bush is a burning bush if we have the eyes to see it, that our whole life we are moving from one piece of holy ground to another.
