After King Hezekiah prayed about his terminal illness the word of the LORD came to the Prophet Isaiah: “Go, tell Hezekiah: Thus says the LORD, I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you: I will add fifteen years to your life.” Hezekiah was doubtless overjoyed at the news. Fifteen years! Great! I suspect that the fifteen years flew by and soon enough he would be confronting another terminal illness. For that reason the first of the prophetic words are the ones we should take to prayer today: “Thus says the LORD: Put your house in order, for you are about to die.” It might not be today or tomorrow but we are sure to die. Is your house in order?
