Jesus had seen fishermen throwing their nets many times. Jeremiah had observed a potter at the wheel often. However, upon further reflection these very ordinary human activities spoke of the action and presence of God. We need to develop that same ability to recognize the signs of God’s presence. I recently came across a dredge which was pumping sand from the sea floor onto the beach to replenish it. There is a railroad man who inspects the train tracks every day to make sure that they are still straight, with no cracks, and safe to ride on. A picture from the Hubble Space Telescope of the Crab Nebula shows new stars constantly being formed to refresh the universe. What do you see that tells you something of God?
