The Ten Commandments have become a political football. Certain public officials want to feature them in government buildings. Others object that doing so violates the separation of church and state. What would really be controversial would be to display publicly some of the commandments of Jesus. “Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Pray for those who persecute you.” “If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn and offer the other.” “Give to those who ask. If someone asks for your cloak, give him your shirt as well.” “Forgive seventy-times seven times.” “Go, sell what you have. Give to the poor. Come follow me.” The commandment Moses left require a change of behavior. The commandments of Jesus require a change of heart.
