The commentator on the Olympics said that Katie Ledecky had swam over 21,000 miles in training before coming to the Olympics — she could have swam to Japan from her home! She dedicated herself completely to her goal. The parables of Jesus challenge us to have the same kind of dedication toward a life in God. “When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.” Faith cannot be a hobby, as sometime thing, we work into the spaces of our life. It demands our complete dedication. A song in the play A Chorus Line is entitled: “What I did for love.” The singer gave everything to dance — what do we give for the love of God?
