“Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” Doubting Thomas could only come to belief if he touched the wounds of Jesus. Something similar marks the evangelical moment we are currently in. It is not more creative catechetical methods or fancy media campaigns that will make us effective apostles. We are going to bring people to Jesus by inviting them to touch the wounded body of Christ. By feeding the hungry, visiting the sick and imprisoned, welcoming the immigrant, forgiving the sinner, caring for the poor we are touching the wounds of Jesus. “Whatsoever you do to the least, you do to me.”
