Tonto and Robin are thought of as the faithful companions of the more famous member of the pair. Barnabas is portrayed in a somewhat similar role to Paul in the Acts of the Apostles. While Paul could not have done what he did without Barnabas, he got all the press while Barnabas faded from view. A healthy community is populated by people like Barnabas. They don’t need the limelight themselves but instead do the quiet things that make life go well. Today is a good opportunity to notice the Barnabases in life and to thank them. Thank the person who gets the coffee ready before the meeting. Thank the person who always remembers a birthday. Thank the person who empties the trash can.
