Fr. Andrew did tremendous work raising funds for the missions. I asked him once if he missed being on the missions himself. He was surprised by my question. “But I am on the missions,” he answered. “Read St. Paul and see how often he requests support for his work as a missionary.” What is interesting in reading St. Paul’s mission appeals is that he doesn’t talk about the needs that the recipients have for the funds. Rather, he speaks of the need that the donors have to share the blessings that God has bestowed upon them. The way they should respond to God’s generous gifts to them is to in turn be generous to others. In that way they share the grace of God.
