The Ten Commandments have become something of a political football. They are used to demonstrate a politicians bona fide as a genuine Christian. But, of course, the Ten Commandments are not specifically Christian. They are part of the heritage that Christianity has inherited from our Jewish roots. Jesus does give us commandments, just not in a nice convenient list. In the Sermon on the Mount we hear one of the commandments of Jesus. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Or to put it in commandment form: Thou shalt not worry. This is quite a challenge since worrying almost seems to be a requirement of being an adult. The whole insurance industry exists because we are worried about tomorrow. What Jesus wants us to understand is that while it can be good to make our own plans, always be aware that we are in the hand of God. There is an old expression: Man proposes, God disposes.
