The Epistle of Jude is only twenty-five verses long. Its purported author claims to be the brother of James, presumably the James who was head of the church in Jerusalem. Scholars suppose that it was written about the year 80 A.D. This short epistle provides the opportunity to reflect on the role of Sacred Scripture in the life of faith. We tend to go back to those sayings and stories that we like. But the Bible is rich in things which get us out of our comfort zone and challenge us to think of God and the ways of God in new and different ways. Maybe today’s practice might be to find a place in the Bible you don’t ordinarily read and find a lesson there.
