Walk With Christ This Lent

Take Part in These Special Opportunities,

Beyond Weekly Worship,

Created to Deepen Faith and Unite Our Parish Community!

Lent at St. James is a sacred opportunity for our community to grow deeper in faith and renewal. This year, we invite you to our Lenten Retreat on Saturday, March 7th, themed “Come to the Water: The Woman at the Well,” reminding us of our call to conversion and the living water of Christ. We will also gather weekly for Stations of the Cross, followed by a Lenten movie reflection (except the first week). Join us for this meaningful season of prayer and reflection.

Lenten Retreat at St. James: The Woman at the Well- Saturday, March 7, 2026

Lent is a beautiful time to pause, reflect, and renew. Join the St. James faith community for a meaningful day of prayer and reflection centered on The Woman at the Well — the powerful Gospel story of Jesus offering living water to a searching heart.

Saturday, March 7, 2026
9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
St. James Catholic Church
2942 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL 60616
(Location: Church Basement)

This retreat invites us to reflect on where Christ meets us in our own thirst, questions, and daily lives. Whether you feel spiritually refreshed or in need of renewal, this day is for you.

We are honored to welcome Christina R. Zaker, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry at Chicago Theological Union, as our retreat leader. She brings depth, warmth, and pastoral experience to this Lenten day of reflection.

The retreat will take place in the church basement, where a light lunch will be served. We kindly ask that you please consider making a donation to help cover the cost of the day.

Come draw living water this Lent. All are welcome. Register here today!

Taizé Prayer Service This Lent

Taizé is a simple, meditative style of Christian prayer that began in the ecumenical community of Taizé in France. Centered on repetitive, contemplative songs, Scripture, silence, and candlelight, it creates space to rest quietly in God’s presence.

Join us for a beautiful evening of meditation, prayer, and song during this sacred season of Lent.

Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 PM
St. James Catholic Church
2942 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL 60616

Come and gather with our community for this peaceful Lenten reflection. All are welcome.

Lenten Bible Study-The History of the Bible

The Biblical story plays out against the reality of the ancient world. The Chosen People situated themselvesl against mighty empires that sought to exploit the resouces of Palestine. Political, social, cultural and military realities shaped the life of the Jewish people for almost two thousand years from the call of Abraham to the destruction of the nation by the Romans. What lessons can does Israel teach us about being faithful to God in a hostile world?

This Lent, we invite you to deepen your faith through our annual Lenten Bible Study, offered as an opportunity for prayer, learning, and reflection during this sacred season. Register to receive a Zoom Link!
