“Be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Have you ever been in a perfect house? The lawn is perfectly manicured. The living room is perfectly lovely. The kitchen is perfectly clean and spotless. If you are anything like me you back out of such a place because you are afraid to touch anything and ruin the perfection. God’s house is not like that. In God’s house there are several overstuffed easy chairs you can flop down on. There is a fridge with bottles of water available for you. There are probably even some half-empty pizza boxes lying around. The perfection of God we are to emulate is not austere and unattainable. God acts perfectly by never failing to reach out in love.
