“Stop judging and you will not be judged.” Or as we might say nowadays, cut me some slack. It is impossible for us to know what another is going through, why they did what they did. We cannot judge their hearts. We can. however, judge their actions. We can say that this, that or the other is an evil thing to do. We can’t say that doing so makes someone a bad person. Pope Francis was recently criticized for showing leniency to some perpetrators of sex abuse. Those crimes are horrific and must be condemned. However, even criminals deserve to be shown compassion. While always keeping the needs of victims as primary before us, we should always act in a way that trusts in God’s grace.
