“Your heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.” Your experience is probably similar to mine in asking and seeking and knocking in prayer and not having our prayer answered. To understand this I remembered by mother not responding to my request for a chocolate cupcake. Eat your carrots first, she demanded. That helps us understand that the “good things” God gives us are not necessarily what we expected but are in fact what is good for us. What God wants for us is better than what we could want for ourselves. So when we are experiencing some pain or difficulty we must ask, seek, knock to understand how this seemingly negative event is, in fact, part of a blessing God gives.
