The Old Testament Joseph, Son of Jacob, was a dreamer. His brothers resented his dreams and they landed him in trouble, sold as a slave into Egypt. In the providence of God his dreams got him exactly where he needed to be. The New Testament Joseph, husband of Mary, was a dreamer. His dreams caused him no end of grief as well. One dream even sent him as a refugee into Egypt and we know how hard an immigrant’s lot can be. No doubt Joseph had his own dreams about how life should go — in his own home, working his business, surrounded by loving wife and children. He learned, as we all must, that God’s dream for us is better than what we can imagine.
