I used to attend the Festival of Homiletics. Several thousand, mostly mainline Protestant, preachers gather annually to hone the art and craft of preaching. About half of the group were women and I have heard some of the most amazing sermons delivered from their perspective. That memory came to me hearing about the story of Susanna from the Book of Daniel and the Woman Caught in Adultery in the gospel of John. In the Biblical stories the perspective of the women is not presented. We are missing something essential. That is, of course, not simply a problem in the Bible but persists to this day. The Catholic Church has to do a better job in valuing and incorporating the gifts women bring to the Church.
