When confronted by a hostile crowd Jesus proposed “believe the works I perform, so that you may realize and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” When I think about the “works” of service, charity and justice that the Church performs daily I am awed. Totally under the radar great things are being done by religious men and women to care for those most in need. Jesus’ works were not honored so we probably should not be surprised that the works of the Church are similarly overlooked. The challenge for us not to become discouraged but instead trust that whatever Good Friday we have to go through will, in God’s time, be raised up and give new life.
