Most people will say some version of “I don’t like conflict.” But, if we take Jesus as an example, sometimes conflict is unavoidable. I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are trying to kill me, because my word has no room among you. The only loving thing to do at times is to confront, to face up to things that are wrong. When the Tennessee congressman representing the district where the horrible school shooting occurred was asked about how to protect his school age daughter he responded, “We homeschool her.” As a Church we must be confront those who ignore the safety of every child. In our families we must intervene when someone is acting in ways harmful to themselves or others. The Bible speaks of God’s wrath as a reminder that God speaks a passionate “NO” to those situations which make it difficult to grow in wisdom, age and grace.
