Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you. Loving your enemies is not a strategy. We like to think that if we love our enemies they will see the error of their ways, love us back and we’ll all sing kum-ba-ya. No, more times than not when we love our enemies they will take it as a sign of weakness and attempt to exploit us further. Loving your enemies is a life style. We do so not to change the heart of the other (though we certainly hope and pray for that.) We love our enemies to change our hearts so they will become more like the heart of God who loves us unconditionally, not because we deserve it but because we need it.
