MARCH82016

March 8, 2016 By Church Staff

Jesus asked the paralytic by the pool of Bethesda, “Do you want to be well?” You can almost imagine the sick man saying “DUH, of course.” But what he does instead is make excuses for all the reasons he is not well. What Jesus is really asking him, will you do those things which will make you well? Isn’t that our story? If anyone asked me, do you want to lose weight? Well, DUH. But in order to lose weight I need to be willing to do those things which will help me to lose weight — and not heed the siren call of french fries! The same is true of the spiritual life. Jesus says to us, “Do you want to be a saint?” which implies “Are you willing to do those things which will help you to become a saint.”
