Corinth was an ideal place for Paul to ply his trade as a tent maker. It was a port town with lots of comings and goings. In addition, in non-Olympic years athletic contests were held (“the Isthmian Games”) which brought in many people who needed a place to stay. His collaborators in his mission, Priscilla and Aquila, were also tent makers. All of which serves as a reminder that God uses everything. God used Paul’s occupation to get him to the right place to spread the gospel of Jesus. God uses us just as we are, in this place with this set of talents doing these kinds of things, to fulfill our role as bringers of the gospel into our homes, our neighborhoods, our workplaces.
