St. Paul had a vision where the Lord told him to be confident since “I have many people in this city.” Paul was able to work effectively in the city of Corinth with that blessed assurance. Although I haven’t been granted a vision I trust that the Lord has many people in Chicago as well. You wouldn’t know it from the news reports. All they talk about is crime, violence, division, strife, contention — none of which is associated with being one of God’s people. It is incumbent on us to work to galvanize all of those many people who love God in order to create a counter-narrative which speaks of the reality that love is stronger than hate, that there is unity even in diversity.
