Two contrasting statements in the readings assigned for today: in the Acts of the Apostles St. Paul reflects on his experience and says, “It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.” At the Last Supper Jesus says, Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. If we combine those two statements we come up with something like “Do not let your hearts be troubled even in the midst of troubles.” What enables us to heed this Biblical admonition is the awareness of the love that God has for us. Because we are loved we can rest assured that no matter what troubles we are going through all will be well since “love is stronger than death.”
