On one of St. Paul’s missionary journeys he had a vision of a man who said, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” To understand the significance of the vision you need to know a little of the geography. Up until this point St. Paul had been preaching in what is now the country of Turkey. That part of the word was the Roman province of Asia, the East, the provinces. Macedonia is part of Greece, the West, the center of civilization. By going to Greece St. Paul transformed the Jesus movement into a world religion. In our lives we tend to stay with the familiar, with what we know. God calls us out of our comfort zone to bring good news to someone unexpected.
