MAY202023

May 20, 2023 By Church Staff

When Priscilla and Aquila heard [Apollos speak], they took him aside and explained to him the Way of God more accurately. Apollos needed to understand the truth of the gospel better. We live in an age where truth is taking a battering. This is obviously so in the political arena but even in the religious realm what is true does not seem to have a high priority. You do your thing and I do mine seems the modern mantra. In a recent poll of Gen Xers the question they asked themselves was not “is it true” but “is it helpful.” If the history of Chrisitanity teaches us anything it is that the truth matters. For example, the truth is that Jesus is both the Son of God and the Son of Mary, truly God and truly man. When we lose that truth and make Jesus into just a nice guy we will create a society where human life is expendable, a commodity, something to exploit. Whereas since the truth is that every human being has a family respemblance to Jesus and thus is infinitely valuable and precioius.
