MAY22025

May 2, 2025 By Church Staff

We live in a time of social, political, economic and religious transition. The late Pope Francis used to say this is not an era of change but a change of eras. Such transitions cause people to become uneasy and upset. We look for facile solutions to complex problems. The pull of nostalgia, of the “good old days” (imagined as a golden age) becomes a siren song. Those who were on the top of the heap in the old order cling with both hands to their position. But the plan and purpose of God are inexorable. It is God’s desire that every human being, anywhere in the world, of whatever race or nation, be treated as the valuable and precious creature that they are. As we make our own decisions on how we are going to respond to a change of eras remember the Biblical admonition:  “if this endeavor or this activity is of human origin, it will destroy itself. But if it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy it; you may even find yourselves fighting against God.”
