The early Church was seeking the will of God. They prayed, discussed, debated and eventually came to a decision. Then they promulgated what they had decided. “It is the decision of the Holy Spirit and of us.” We go through a similar process when we seek the will of God. But if you are anything like me the end result is not as clear-cut as it was for those first Christians. I might say something like “it seems to be the will of God.” And maybe that isn’t so bad. We must be humble about our decisions knowing our faulty vision and our finite reasoning. And we must also be open to whatever new thing the Holy Spirit sends us to guide our next steps.
