Corinth was a great spot for a tent-maker, like Paul, to base their business. It was a busy port. The Isthmus of Corinth was a narrow stretch of land that today has a canal through it. In Paul’s time boats would be put on log rollers and pushed the three or so miles from one side to the other. There would be lots of sailors and laborers who would need temporary housing, i.e. tents. In addition, Corinth was the site of the Isthmian games, athletic contests held in non-Olympic game years. Again, the games created the need for tents. All of which says, Paul was able to bring the gospel into the place where he worked. We too can be apostles in our daily life.
