Corinth was an ideal place for a tent maker like Paul to ply his/her trade. It was a port city with many people in transit needing temporary housing. In addition, the Isthmian Games were held in non-Olympic years so athletes and spectators would need a place to stay in the pre-Holiday Inn days. Paul stopped his constant movement and stayed in Corinth for some time in his preaching ministry. What the Acts of the Apostles makes clear is that Paul was no one-man band. He had many helpers and collaborators (both Jew and Gentile) to share in the work: husband and wife team Priscilla and Aquila, Timothy and Silas, Titus Justus, Cripus. What a vivid reminder that no one comes to the faith alone. We need other people in order to have the faith and in order to share the faith. In prayer today let us give thanks for all of those who have walked with us as we journey toward God.
