MAY92024

May 9, 2024 By Church Staff

In the cathedral at Corinth there is a list of all of the bishops since the founding of the church 2000 years ago. The first name on the list is St. Paul. Paul would probably be surprised to find his name there. He would have listed Aquila and Priscilla as the leaders of the community. He never looked on his role as the community leader but more as the one who planted the seed. In addition, St. Paul would be surprised to find his name listed without including those who collaborated with him in ministry. Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Titus Justus and Crispus were part of his team. In the US there is this idealization of the Lone Ranger, of the John Wayne type character who handles things all on his own. That is not how the Bible thinks. The Bible presumes that we need each other, that we will support each other. There are no Lone Rangers in the faith (and even the Lone Ranger needed Tonto.) Today be grateful for those who support you and respond to those who reach out for your support.
